Nothing in Particular

Every day, during the internet-time I put aside for myself, I always have a look at Georgia + Pete's blog as well as Mez's. And from there I habitually click the link back to this little blog. Why? I'm not too sure to be honest, because it is not like this website is going to disappear or that anyone else will make changes to it. And I always find myself somewhat disappointed that there is not a new entry. Which - I know, I know – is pretty stupid, as it is not logical that I should experience any sort of anticipation as to ‘ohhh. What could be on there today….’

And yet I do.

Sometimes I just wish someone else wrote for me and I could be pleasantly surprised by my witty thoughts each day.

Why begin the entry like this? Well, basically to excuse the fact I don’t have anything interesting to say, and to explain why it is necessary for me to put SOMETHING new on here. I'm boring myself stupid.

So we are going to go with a few random things I have thought of lately, in no particular order

• The Blog turned a year old nearly 2 months ago and I didn’t celebrate it. Not that it would notice or feel annoyed by the lack of recognition, but a simple little ‘Happy Birthday Mr. Blog’ would have been nice. Sorry Mr. Blog. I promise a party this time next year.
• It appears that the ‘Mr. Man Manderson’ photo is a big favourite on the website as I have had lots of feedback on that one. You people are sick
• Been madly planning Trip to France (Paris and Champagne) and Greece (Athens, Milos and Santorini) with Olivia which is due to kick-off on the 16th of June. It all is very, very exciting and we have decided to splash out and stay at a really luxurious place in Santorini. I will no doubt be posting lots of photos of me sitting in the glorious sun, sipping a cocktail in an infinity pool that overlooks the volcanoes crater in the middle of the Mediterranean.
• That was an exaggeration, but regardless, you will be jealous
• It was 25 degrees here the other day and HOT
• Crows are doing magnificently, which is the highlight of my Monday mornings.
• I wonder when the next Harry Potter is coming out. It was around this time last year, so maybe another year from now. Hopefully Rowling brings back all my favourite characters she killed-off over the past few books. Bitch.
• New season of Tiny Tearaways began last week. (Only Georgia will find this interesting). Pretty good stuff. Seeing a lot of ‘Kissing the apple’ and Rapid Return (genius). One kid got rapid returned 294 times in one night! But that was cos she was 4, and the parent never dealt with it. If my children have eating or sleeping problems, after hours and hours of my Tanya training, it will be a breeze to deal with. Not that they will ever get to that stage because the fundamental fact you learn from Tanya on day 1 is that behavioural problems in children are more than likely a result of the parents’ behaviour. And I am going to be purrrrr-fect. This week we have a boy with selective mutism, which is new.
• This week British big brother starts, which I not am looking forward to as it takes over EVERYTHIGN from three channels to all conversation. There is something quite hideous about the lengths that the slappers and the chavs will go to be famous in this country and last year they put a group of the most horrible, self-centred, show ponies I have ever seen. All incredibly loud and trying to steal the limelight. It was offensive that at the end one of them got £100,00 and the ego boost that the country thought they were cool.
• Dave bought me a Donna Hay cookbook I didn’t have the other day and I made a pasta dish out of it, which was incredible.
• Still reading John Banville’s The Sea. For such a short novel, it has taken me a world record time. Admittedly took to reading Paris and Greek Island Lonely Planets for a couple of weeks, which no doubt has extended the hell which is reading this book (although I must admit, I am starting to really like it).
• Can’t put any photos on here for a while as Dave’s computer has died (again) and it is in the shop.
• Oh. This is good. Dave and I went out on a proper date the other night. Dinner and a movie. Well, Movie and a Dinner. We saw ‘the Squid and the Whale’ which we both really liked and then went for the best Chinese ever in Chinatown. It was a really nice night and Dave impressed me by his insight into interpreting a rather unclear moving ending. It was quite impressive, and I will need to re-think his position on the ‘Fool Pedestal’. Maybe. He actually seems to be quite good with movies that are ambiguous, much more impressive than me – I have taken to shrugging my shoulders and not even attempting to dissect. Mind you, he is limited by the fact that if the movie is longer than 90 minutes, he will fall asleep.
• Feeling quite happy that Tom Cruise’s latest film did poorly at the box office. Never really got what was so good about him, and as of lately he has become incredibly annoying. Plus he is such a crap actor (besides that scene in Rain Man when he awkwardly tries to hug his brother)

That’s enough for today. Goodbye.

I'm posting a comment! Ha ha, well, actually, I have nothing substantial to say, just thought I'd give it a a red-hot go. Just thought I should clear something up: Yes, it's true, I am obsessed with Heather, but the cow hasn't written to me in a week, so my ardour fades with each passing day.

Hey -I thought I'd post something for you, in case you were bored. Firstly, two movies you might enjoy if you haven't seen them already: Water (an Indo-Canadian film, the third in a triology -Earth and Fire being the other two) a wonderfully sad story about widows in India -all three films are about women in India but Water apparently had the biggest bugest, and thus looks the best. And 'Everything is Illuminated' -despite having "freaky-eyed" Elijah Wood in it -a cute story, and the Ukrainian character's english is awesome.
And if you're really looking for another blog to read -check out this super nerdy hockey playoff blog set up by my old roommate (we're all in a pool, which I'd like to add, I'm 12th out of 38 -could be worse)
